Summer Lake - Mineral Paint
A beautifully soft blue with just the right amount of vibrancy.
Made by Paint Mineral Paint is a beautiful furniture paint that is so easy to use and has over 30 beautiful colours in the range! It is a water-based environmentally friendly paint that is non-toxic, solvent free and VOC Free. It is also Australian made!
Simply ensure your piece is clean and free from peeling paint, dirt, dust, mould and grease. Then you are ready to get started! The beauty about Mineral Paint is that it is generally unnecessary to sand prior to application. Like most brands of mineral paint, the Made by Paint brand will adhere to many different surfaces. Painting on plastic, glass and metal may require use of an appropriate base coat though.
Ensure that you stir your tin well before you begin painting, as sediments may have settled over time. For best results, it is recommended that you use a good quality brush! For a textured look, use a bristle brush. For a smoother finish, use either a synthetic brush or a 4-5mm mohair roller. These products are also available on our website, under the “Brushes” tab.
The Mineral Paint is touch dry in 30 minutes and can be recoated in 2 hours. For a smoother finish, sand lightly between coats where needed to remove any unwanted material. Apply further coats until the desired finish is achieved. Two coats are generally sufficient to achieve excellent coverage and opacity. Lighter colours will potentially require more coats. The 500ml tin will cover about 7 to 8 square metres depending on the substrate.
Our Mineral Paint is formulated with a built-in topcoat and does not need sealing. Avoid sanding the final coat of paint where possible, as this will disturb the built-in topcoat and will need resealing.
For added durability and protection in high traffic areas, applying a sealant is recommended. Use any of our Waxes, Polyseal or Finishing Oils to both protect and achieve the desired decorative look for your piece.
Once finished, be sure to clean up your quality brushes to keep them at their best for your next project! Clean up is as simple as washing them with warm soapy water. This includes your wax brushes too!
Your piece will be fully cured within 7 days of completion!
